Located in the southern part of Summit County, New Franklin, Ohio, is a city that beautifully blends its rich history with modern suburban living. Originally established as Franklin Township in 1817, the area was home to several early villages, including Manchester, Savannah, Clinton, Orradeen, and Pumroy. Many of the township's residents are direct descendants of early settlers such as John Sorrick, George Rex, John Snyder, Jacob Grove, John Stump, Jonathon Hamsher, and John Harter.
In 1997, the village of New Franklin was incorporated from a section of Franklin Township to prevent annexation attempts from neighboring cities. The area expanded significantly in 2003 when residents voted to merge the village with Franklin Township, and it officially became a city in 2006.
